Cockellshell Heroes...

I recently played a PBEM game as the Axis, and noticed at some point early in the game that St. Nazaire, as the script-opted upgraded port from which to build German submarines from, was at a supply level of one/(1). This remained the same throughout the entire game--it never went any higher than one. After the match I did question my opponent about this; he said only that he did opt for the "Cockellshell Heroes" script and that the attack had been made successfully. A single successful attack however seems unlikely to take out the port indefinitely to a level 1 supply...right?
Might this be a glitch...has anybody else had this happen?
Is the damage caused by a successful raid on St. Nazaire permanent?

It's a different DE for the St. Naizaire raid (I forget the name of the ship/decision event) but it's a 'modern' version of the fire ship port attack.
I don't know the chances off hand but guess that ~75% of the time the attack damages the port and it recovers (1pt/turn) and the other 25% of the time it gets clobbered for good. I suppose you could look at the script to find the exact chance.

Hi

The details can be found in the Strategy Guide, DE 113 is for the raid against St Nazaire, and it has a 50% chance of knocking the port out permanently, otherwise the damage inflicted will be repaired and the port will become reusable after a period of time.

The Cockleshell Heroes is an event triggered by DE 114 for the UK to prepare Commando raids against occupied Europe.

I was not aware; I'm apparently not alone. This was a valuable query...this DE is a must for anyone--all of us--concerned about hemming in the U-boat menace.Thank you all so much for your brevity in responding.

You've really got a great game here Bill; thank you in particular for all you do!!!

It wouldn't be that big a deal-if the La Rochelle port existed.
