So sad to hear that Sean Connery has passed away.

Alas, while I loved the Bond character, the real man (Connery), was actually something of a misogynist swine.

I will recognize his acting his characters superbly, I can't say I will recognize his efforts to play a human being.

He’s not my favorite Bond, but only because I was introduced to and grew up with the Moore films. I only saw the Connery films much later. But damn, he was the epitome of cool (he brought that coolness and bravado to his other films), and when I hear the word “Bond”, he’s the first one I think of. What an icon.

Sean Connery was nothing if not outspoken. Early in his career, he said:

But at least he was for Scottish independence. He wasn't worthless.

Some people simply hate men? And, they can't wait to express it. Are they above taking a high road. We shall see when one of their favorites passes away?

Sorry your thread got high jacked. Nothing wrong with Sean. He was also good in other acting parts not just Bond.

Sad to see him go. Sadder to him spit on as he does. Shame on all the haters.

Myself, I like men. I think every woman should have the chance to meet a good one.
I've met a few myself.

But the world is full of bad ones. To be fair there's no shortage of bad women out there too. Met plenty of those as well.

It was said that he wanted to get as far away from James Bond as he could. [:D]

To me, he was always Sean Connery, no matter what role he played.

Sean may be gone but the spirit of Zardoz lives on,

Zardoz was a really original sci-fi movie. It was too confusing and bizarre for many people.

Connery had a great stage presence, even when he wasn't the lead character. Will always remember him as General Urquhart in A Bridge Too Far.

I think some men have a difficult time with women in general and some women have a difficult time with men in general. I think it's usually a personal thing based on life experiences and such that they can't really help. But in the end, I think we're all human beings, even the misogynists and misandrists. Life plays out in tragic ways sometimes.

I think of him more in The Hunt for Red October than as a Bond. Great movie.

Both Bond (to me the best Bond movie remains Goldfinger, BTW) and Captain Ramius. THftRO is one of my favourite movies ever.
