I'm not sure if this is by design:
Going to war with another player does not end any trade agreements with them. So you can still get lots of money from any tariffs you impose on that player.

Yeah thats a loose end i'll tie up as well.

Gave it some thought, but it is most logical that upon war Trade and Research deals become void.
