I’m new to TOAW IV but played III for quite awhile years ago.
In Overlord, my second wave troops are getting slaughtered in their transports on the way over by coastal artillery.
What do I do about that?

If I remember right, that's the one where from turn 1 you need to pound those batteries with your ships off shore, they can be taken out (at least enough for your troops to float in) I also recall that on turn 1, after pounding out those batteries, I was able to land some british engineers that helped take them out.

Also, you can land some airborne on turn 1, they too are effective at helping destroy those batteries, just keep pounding! That is also the one where German interdiction strikes are very very annoying. I hope this helps!
