According to the manual and what I'm reading on this forum, during the orders phase I should be able to select an HQ with aircraft, select "bomb airfield" (alt-F), select an enemy airfield and hit return (or left click), and bombing should immediately occur. But when I do that, nothing happens. I've tried to bomb cities, airfields, do interdiction missions... nothing seems to work.

Am I doing something wrong? Is what I've read about instant bombing incorrect, and the bombing occurs only when I enter the combat phase?

You must change the mission of one or more of your airgroups to "A". The HQ must not have moved or transferred a unit into it previously in the turn.
