Leipzig - Engineers?

In the 1805 Napoleonic scenario is there some benefit for the French from their engineer units? I cannot figure that out if there is. And I did not see anything that addresses this in the info on the scenario.
Another problem. I cannot seem to attack the Austrian unit in Ingolstadt. I wondered if this was something the engineers could be helpful for but again, I need some guidance on this. Thanks.
