In the Air Design tab on the Model tab, is the HP/WGT Ratio best when it is lower? so the less weight the lower the ratio which is better right?

Horsepower to Weight ratio has a big impact on Maximum Speed and Dogfight Score calculations. Higher is better.

best wishes,

Yeah, higher is better.
This actually brought up a good point though. The fact that the abbreviation isn't really explained in the management screen. I mean, when I saw the thread title, I thought it was gonna be about a hitpoint to weight ratio.
In general there are way too many unexplained abbreviations in the game. I'm gonna make a small list of them in my aircraft design thread.

Maybe the abrev needs to be HSP for horsepower?

The reason i asked was my Heavy Helicopter (Airsnake III) had a lower ratio of 64% and has 11 hex op range compared to the other with 88% ratio which only had 7 op range.
The ultralight aircraft with the higher ratio has the longer range.

You need to show what components they have and what their weight is.

Actually, I can already see that the Airsnake 3 has less weapons and a bigger fuel tank, making it heavier in total (meaning lower engine power to weight ratio), but also increasing its range.
