What is the map pack?

Hi,

The holiday sale is now on at matrix.

Someone suggested previously (on this forum) I should get the map pack. I looked at the price and it was too much so I didn't research it any further.

It's now 80% off - should I get it? Can't find any real info on what it does, just that it's big. The burb says 'entirely playable on the table top' and that 'it's printed in full-color heavy stock gloss paper'. Is it just an updated board game map and nothing to do with the computer version? If that's the case I have 2 questions: 1: Why did someone recommend it to me when I only play the computer version? 2: If it is just a board game map, does it come with all the counters?

If I'm wrong and it is indeed a map update for MWIF, what does it do?

It's the world map one can use for the boardgame. There are no counters included.

I haven't go a clue why someone would recommend it if you only play the computer version.

If I am not wrong about the map W. is writing about, it's not even the boardgame one. It's one much hugher, you can buy it only for emotive reasons, like being a fan of the boardgame.

You can paper a room with it but hardly play with it.

It's this, in six pieces. I bought it for nostalgic reasons and to perhaps support the game but I'll never use it in anger. It does look great though.

When it was announced, someone wanted to wrap it around a steel sphere and use magnetised counters with it but I hopefully disabused him of that notion. That's not how globes are produced and the difficulties of mounting such a large steel sphere would be more something for a Bond villain's lair [;)]
