And a AAR from the Allied point of view.

One feels the game has become a bit slower. Losses will be smaller. More sitzkrieg for sure.

HB took Luxemburg on turn 1 Poland on turn 2 and Denmark on turn 3. And thats that I think for 39. Maybe he will take the Netherlands with a cold turn in 39. The troops seems to be there but I doubt it.

The BoA comes off with a bad start for the Germans as they sink 1 convoy but loses 2 sub factors.

The German subs comes back with a vengeance sinking 3 mms and 2 escorts. So it begins.... [:)]

And it continues [:@]. So this is driving me crazy. If 3 subs shot on 3 escorts and they have a 10% chance to sink one this was a 1/1000 occurrence. Something tells me it is not. If everyone shots on everything then 9 attacks were made that would mean a 33.33% hit rate way above 10% and sinking 7 merchants to boot [:)]. And as icing on the cake escort tech research is the slowest of them all already 110 days behind the fastest tech. Churchill not happy, this will be another long night [:)]. (Just for fun comparison my 3 subs on the same turn scored 0/0, facing more escorts that is true but still)

Wow. I think the leaders of those packs are Otto Kretschmer, Wolfgang Lüth, Erich Topp. Hang in there.

Haha yes. Seriously though I will stop moaning over this. I dont want to come across as grumpy [:)].

It just that I feel I dont understand what is going on and the same set of circumstances seems to have a wide range of outcomes so it is very random. But if it is random it will also even out over time so just carry on. But 7 merch 3 escort so early in the game dont think I have ever seen anything like it. Ok back to building escorts and I will not mention this any more [:)].

This AAR will also be more updated now when games with ComadrejaKorp coming to an end.

I wrote down the biggest differences in my Axis AAR.
What I can say here is that I have tried a new strategy of not using escorts until I got up to a fairly comfortable number like 20. I am kind of getting there now so soon I will start escorting. Drawback of couse German subs takes no damage can be out to sea as long as possible and they gain XP. Positive you dont lose any escorts of course. Wether or not this is good I have no idea but I wanted to try it out. It is of course borderline gamey. If you have escorts you should use them I guess, imagine in real life what would have happened if they sailed the merchants unescorted. But the fact that escorts dont lower damage to merchants and losing so many escorts vs ComadrejaKorp and in the start of this game as well I am sick of that snowball effect so this time I will first build up a decent number before commiting them.

I will post losses lately but unfortunately his subs are doing fairly well. On land the invasion of France have started.
German losses unfortunately very low so far hopefully they will go up a bit now but HB is making really good progress.
I have made a quite big commitment of British and I might send more havent deceided yet .

Just a thought, when France falls you get their escorts so I wouldn't use them at all. (3 of them unless you built more)

Oh you do? I did not know that yes then I should have held them back too I guess.

June 21 1940

Forgot screenshots last turn. But HB doing great cutting through the allied lines with ease. The Luftwaffe is playing with allied ari shooting down 2:1. The only good thing is that I counterattacked on June 7 and shattered a mech corps.

UK mobile units are heading for home but I will fight on with the infantry.

July 5 1940

Almost over. The British leave and next turn Paris falls.

August 30 1940

Sorry I am so bad at updating. Real life is knocking on the door and I play my 26th to 29th PBEM right now and I have maybe overplayed a bit so I probably wont spend a lot of time on these AARs but at least HB making nice AARs I hear [:)]. Anyway not that much exciting stuff goes on at least for the moment.

France is conquered and I try to occupy some of North Africa but German units swarm in and I am not going to risk Egypt and I dont want to lose any units so I leave as fast as I arrived. Malta will fall but I dont think HB will go for Gibraltar but we will see maybe he will.

There is a buildup against Yugoslavia. The Netherlands have not been taking meaning as the UK I havent recieved any merchants from Netherlands, Norway or Greece so even though merchant losses so far have not been out of the ordinary I am running pretty low on merchants.

The question is can the Germans really get away with not taking the Netherlands? I wonder. Feels like it could be invaded fairly easy by the allies. I guess the future will tell.

Oh I almost forgot. Happy New Year everyone!

UK secret weapon the conversion of tac bombers into Detection and electronics pays off. The sub got hit by the escorts and the airunit followed up sinking the sub unit. That is of couse a nice bonus.
