Newbie PBEM question

OK, I am starting a PBEM game. I know that I have to 'end turn' before I send my turn off. Can I save the game while I am doing it? Do I save it to a different slot that we are using for PBEM? How does this all work?

Bill,
Save it to a different spot if you want to keep a "working copy", because as soon as you hit the end phase button, it prepares the turn for your opponent and you cannot open it.

Yes you can save while planning your turn in another slot.
My PBEM is on slot 10 for example. What I do is planning my next turn, once it is done, I usually hit 'end phase', save on the same slot 10 and send it to my opponent.
If I want to do some strategic planning or ressource audit, I will save once the planning of the next turn is done on another slot, 15, for example, then hit 'end phase', save on turn 10 and sent it to my opponent. Then I will reopen the save 15 and do my planning on paper (I usually plan things one month in advance on the strategic level (goals and general means) and 10-15 days in advance for the tactical level (choices of units involved)).
So I can manage my game without slowing the pace of the PBEM.
A good advice is to save somewhere (for me, slot one) a starting turn of an IJN PBEM, where everything you did on turn one (moving planes, gathering TF, giving building instructions and so on) is done once for good.

Thank you for your info. I wanted to make sure, I would hate to have to redo a lot of the turn because I made a mistake.

Yeah, I used to do this too but there is a problem in doing this. All of the random arrival dates are set on the first turn and then they are the same for all of your games. The ideal solution would be for all of the random dates to be created on the second turn. That way you could keep the setup the same but each game would still be different.
