It's pushing the rest of the tank out of the frame...

We can relatively savely say that Beam-, Rail- and Coilguns will need lenght right after they need power.
If you can make them longer they tend to be more energy and wear efficient. Meaning it is easier to build early ones and it will be better for mid-late ones as well.

I would say the solution is to make the frame bigger. I do not know of a single modern tank where the main gun does not extend past the front of the vehicle*, so if anything conventional guns are to small.

*With armored vehicles whose goes do not extend past the front, they tend to have anti-infantry guns instead.
