Is there any possibility that this is right (naval search and combat)

GE is at the gates of Rotterdam.

Impulse changes.

CW makes a naval and moves units from different ports, including Rottterdam and several others to the North Sea, I (GE) try to intercept them all and intercept some, others no but all of them end in that sea.

We roll and axis finds on a 1 and CW on a 3.

A good number of CW units, among them the stronger fleet are not included, even though they are in box 3 or more, at the 3 box there are unints with a 4 movements CVP (+1) and all in the North Sea have a minus 1 because of snow.

We cannot find any reason for not including part of the 3 box CW units while others yes. The picture shows all the units engaged, and the search rolls, and I selected as well a naval review with those occupying the 3 box of CW. As you can see, Java and Sumatra are included for example but Ark Royal or Hood no.

Is there any possible reason or is this a plain bug?

When I convert your file to solitaire and test it, I do not get this bug. That would seem to indicate it is a NetPlay problem.

Another really odd thing is that the Naval Review Details (NRD) in post #4 was set to all Allied ships but I must have hovered over the 4-box just as I did the screen capture. But I made sure I hovered over a sea hex for the picture in post #5.

So why with the filter set to all Allied, why don't I see the 2 ships in the 4-box in the NRD??

It may be downstairs (scrolling down), can't it? Yes, I think so, they are cruisers and the cruisers' list is truncated.

Finally, after commenting it here and somewhere else, we came to the conclussion that it was a bug and repeated the battle with the rolls edited. Then everything went fine.

I was uncertain because some of those ships might have gone up to the 3 box and then (maybe by mistake) ordered to fight through, and since I don't know how mwif handles this, they were crossing together.

In this case I had doubts on whether they would have gone together, at least in my board game group they need to make their move complete, and then another one, so it should not happen anyway. It had me puzzled because i was not 100% sure it was legal or not or it was a wrong handling of the rules (crossing together) by mwif or even another misunderstanding of the rules by my group.

When you mean that it's a netplay bug you mean it's due to connection issues (solution reload) , to the specific programming of netplay (solution patch), or both?

Oddly, I had a similar thing happen in a Head-to-Head game yesterday (latest version). It was the Axis turn and they moved a navy to the North Sea (all three box). The CW navy was already there. Both sides found, but for some reason only the CW transports were in combat without any of their escorts in the same box.

One odd thing, during the previous CW move, I did move and then undid the moves as I decided to put different units in the seabox. I wonder if these units were flagged in error in some way that the game thought they were ineligible. No save unfortunately.

My opponent had to do the same, he moved a fleet whose integrants moved 5 or more, except for one moving only 4. He undid the move and did it again without that one. And then sh*t happened.

On the NRD - yes of course - stupid me, they were there when I scrolled down.

And I think you are right that undoing moves (especially in NetPlay) can get you into a world of uncharted waters!

All I can suggest is a reload from as close as possible to the problem and then replicate as much as can be remembered without having to Undo. I remember from about 4 years ago (maybe more) playing head-to-head on a shared server; we would record all the air-to-air die rolls so we could replicate things up to where the game broke during those phases, thankfully those air-to-air issues are long gone now!

I converted your saved game from NetPlay to head-to-head and the problem did not occur.

I do not know why.

We've been playing using NetPlay for years and I have not seen this problem before.
