I've looked at the manual but can't see when the 1939 Campaign Game is supposed to end. I've assumed it's August 1945 but....

Hi warspite1.

It should be May 1947 if no victory conditions have been met earlier.

It depends which 1939 campaign you're playing, as the Race to Victory campaigns are designed for Multiplayer and they end in August 1945.

This is so that even if the Axis realise they won't conquer everything needed for a Decisive Victory, they can still obtain a victory, whereas having to hold out for another 2 years to 1947 might be a bit much.

The Victory Conditions can be found on the last page of the Strategy Guides.

Thanks Bill for that clarification.

I just realized that there is indeed a 1939-45 Race to Victory campaign. I never really paid much notice/attention to the Race to Victory campaigns as I mistakenly thought they all started later than 1939...

I am currently playing a PBEM+ mirror match of the 1939 World at War September 1939 campaign, so I assume these could go on up until 1947, right?

Had I realized, at the time I first hosted the match, that the Race to Victory campaigns were more suitable for multiplayer, I would have asked my opponent what they preferred. As it turns out however, we are both giving each other a good run as the Axis player, and one of those two games, if not both, could end up lasting beyond August 1945...

Cheers,

C

Yes, the ones you're playing will end in 1947, unless one of you achieves a Decisive Victory first of course.
