Sound effect issue with reports...

I notice that in Strategic Command World War I, there is no sound effect corresponding to reports showing up on screen, like Strategic Advice, Decisions, etc.
Yet there are corresponding sound effects in the root files, but they don't sound up in-game.
These sounds effects are heard in-game in War in Europe and in World at War, but not in World War I.
Curious. Any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

Thanks for posting, I can see what the problem is! [:)]
We used to use .wav files but now use .ogg files, but the scripts are still looking for .wav files.
I'll get this corrected for the next patch.

Thank you. Yes, I've searched for scripts looking for .wav files, and found quite a number. I've changed them all to .ogg but it still doesn't work, oddly enough. This is definitely part of the solution, but there must be something more to it.

Unfortunately you'd have to recompile the scripts with the Editor after making the change for the game to know the changes have been made... but on your end you'd have to create a custom save of the campaign to get it working as you cannot directly save the default campaigns, only we can edit those as that ensures consistency and compatibility with all players when it comes to the defaults.

Ah! Update the scripts with the editor! Of course, that’s probably why the changes didn’t “register” with the game.
I should have guessed. The game-default campaigns can’t be edited by the players. I did know that!
Will update my custom campaign then and see if that does it for me. And I’ll report back... [;)]

Yes, recompiling the corrected scripts with the editor did it for my modded 1914-1918 Call to Arms scenario! The corresponding messages get their “report.ogg” sound!
I had forgotten to update the scripts with the editor...
Well, duh for me! [:D]
Oddly, though, the victory script for the WWI Naval War Mod didn’t get updated correctly like the popup script did. There’s still an asterisk for the victory script for this mod. When I get the chance, I’ll try replacing it with the correctly updated victory script from my mod.
Thanks, Hubert and Bill!!
