I prefer line & box. Makes it feel more like a simulation than a toy.

Whilst the icons can look nice they clutter up the screen when too many raids are up there.
The line and box looks more like plots and the relative size of box to the raid gives more information.

But switching to icons in pause mode to check confirmed aircraft types of incoming raids, and icons sometimes give a hint if a raid is about to change direction.

Agree, this is an advantage of the icons, confirmed heading.

Oh dear, there is one in every crowd and I am it. Icons, cuz it is an aircraft-driven game and I like to watch aircraft. I know the advantages of L&B, but generally just watching the action, I watch the icons. It makes it more real for me.

To true, there is always one, WSB, but I think I made my point!

Question - is the intent to move away from one or the other? As noted having the option to have either can be justified either way. The box/line is cleaner with heavy activity, the icons do add flavor. I would prefer, along with all the amazing work being done already, would be a complete graphics update to allow higher resolution screens to truly display the game in all it's glory. For now though I find the icons a distraction in the current format. The box/lines keep the screen cleaner but with a cleaner higher res solution I likely would change my mind feeling the depiction of aircraft would add to the game.

No, there is no intent to remove either. The intent is merely to find which you all prefer. Icons receiver significant improvement from the original. Line and box works well for others. A large change in graphics is not the intent of this poll..just getting your preference.

I'll guess those playing the allied side in BTR just can lean back and watch the icons. If playng the axis you must use the line & box to be able to have some meaningful response.

Not at all, I play allies. If you really need to know what the enemy is up to you need line and box. I find icons too confusing during big raids.
