So my director of military research has 1185 in theft.
What are the effects of this? I can't see from my cashflow report that any money goes missing. Nor can I see that any BPs are disappearing, and since he's not a governor, there's no happiness loss.

So am I actually getting any negative effects from this theft?

1185 is the total theft to-date, so if he was stealing 50CR a turn for 20 turns you'd hardly notice, late game.

As newage said, it is a running total of the stolen amount. Maybe he stole ~100 per turn for the last 12 turns, and only this turn is making a pause?
This amount can be recouperated with the right Stratagem cards like "Investigate Leader" in the Secret Service Council, Internal Security Task.

With Governors, I think they are stealing private Credits wich causes happiness reduction of the population - so be on the lookout for that.

But does any current theft show up on the cashflow report? Or where would you see it?

I know theft by a governor shows up in the Happiness Tooltip. I would asume it also appears in the complete Zone report.

I would asume theft from the Public funds appears in the Cashflow reprot. But overall it is not the odd theft I am worried about, but overall tendency to steal and the damage that does.

I don't think the actual theft numbers for the round appear anywhere but the Happiness Tooltip and Zone news, and only if governor.
I check the treasury cashflow overview pretty often, but I don't think I ever saw them appear there ?
They *might* indirectly show up in the discrepancy between that overview and the urgent issues (and/or empire dashboard ?), if you have overall negative cashflow ?
