Fortifications on map buildable by units

Would love to be able to place a fortification of some sort, like right now I got a scratch force ready to be invaded in the north. Seems to me it would be the perfect place to put a fortification which would 1 - boost defense dramatically and 2 - serve as a logistics end point.

Conversly would love to see like Combat Engineers type unit that nullifies or at least reduces the fortification benefits.

Or is this already in the game and I just missed it? There's so much!

Great game!

The request for Fortifications is not a new one.

The cloest thing for Fortifications right now is "entrenchment" - however it is mostly limited to infantry in hard terrain.

Reportedly the Automatic Turret and Gun get a minimum entrenchment, even if that is beyond what the terrain normally allows. However this is not of a big use early game.

Logsitics endpoints are every hex you put a truck station in near the frontline, or a truck station + receiving rail station. Ideally you want to conform both of those to city hexes, but you can put them anywhere in the world.

It be nice if entrenchments were marked on the map somehow, and if a unit left the hex another could come in and occupy them. If within a reasonable amount of time, otherwise they would decay ...
