When I start the game, UAC dialog pops up. What WitE2 needs extra privileges for?

As with WITE and WITW, I think this goes back to the original start of this series and the engine. We've found that it avoids issues for many customers and as a result have set it on by default.

But this answer is showing the problem. Microsoft has introduced the UAC prompt with Windows Vista. Basically all Windows applications managed to adopt within a year or so. You have not learned anything new about how to write proper Windows applications since the times of Windows XP and in this answer you are even bragging about it. Maybe Gary does not care about it but one of the younger guys should tell him. Considering, how much money you ask for for this game we can expect also technical excellence and not only excellence in gameplay.

The engine used in WitE2 was written by Keith Brors many years before WitE1 was released in 2010. Pavel has figured out how to improve the engine in a number of ways since then, but not everything is easily improved. I'll put this on the list to discuss whether it could be changed in the future. Gary doesn't have anything to do with the basic engine code, and we're lucky that Pavel has been able to do as much as he has. Keith long ago returned full time to Silicon Valley and mainstream multiplayer games. Sometimes the reason we do something a certain way is because it is too difficult to make it work a different way.
