Out of curiosity how did this turn out?

I'm struggling a bit to remember to be honest. I started 3 games around the same time, but I think this one went by the wayside somehow quite early on. The most advanced one got to about turn 30ish, and was playing really well - the Germans appeared to be reaching high water mark having made strong gains early on.

Yeah, it's very different picking up this scenario for the first time rather than after a dozen playthroughs.
