Well maybe if it has just come over the hill, all my tanks are suppressed, retreating or routed and the M4 is now within 10 hexes and has 4 shots of APRC ammo and three other M4's with 4 shots of APRC ammo.
Maybe,
just maybe.

What I want to know is who came up with the idea of mounting a flame gun on an M4? Didn't they have enough spontanious combustion worries already?

I did have one unit...

that suffered tank panic due to a M4...it was a supply wagon that had gotten ahead of it's support units during an all-out advance.

When the M4 carries a 17pdr. Be afraid!! They can and will kill your King Tigers.
They just need to learn how not to be seen.
See Jess. I can be a Kat Killer

The trouble is that I was driving them.
They used to call the Japanese Oscar a one shot lighter. Maybe they should call the M4 the one shot fireball.
Terrorfied of them

I swear I had infantry right next to an M4 when she blew and they took suppression from the resulting explosion.
Almost as bad as those **** finnish 203mm.

Units will take suppression when a friendly unit in their Platoon is destroyed, and when a friendly unit nearby (0-5? or so hexes). I have not noticed them take suppression from a red unit being destroyed. They will, however, take suppression from mines exploding within 1-3? hexes, whether set off by reds or blues.

I think US Infantry take suppression when M4's are around anyways. They think "That's all we have backing us up against those SS Panzers", and get all depressed...:p

Gee, and here I thought it was, "Oh great! We don't have enough to worry about from the enemy, now our own side is sending us stuff that blows up with no warning!"

Have to say that the HQ M4a1 in the US vs GE 'Enough is Enough' Tunisia scenario made a complete mess of the PzIIIs and StuGs (and 8-rads). Of course, the flanking fire from the PzVI's 88 put a stop to that nonsense, but I was impressed.
As poor as they are when up against Katz, M4s are hardly on the same level of awfulness as, say, Cruisers or Crusaders. Those awesome two-gun Grants make up for it tho'.
Back to my first point: I think the low rep of M4s can be used to work for them. They get treated with less respect than they actually deserve. Similarly, the overblown rep of PzVIs increases their value. I have found that too many PBEM opponents panic at the sight of them - hence the poll.
Rask.

Cruisers shouuld never come up against a Tiger - they were out of service more or less by the time Tigers arrived in N.Africa.IIRC, the Crusader III was still around, but in v. small numbers. The majority of British tank batallions had coverted to the Sherman by that point.

I'm currently playing WWII campaing as GE in late 1942 in Africa. I must say that I meet few Cruisers (but mostly M3), with my Tigers and it's a slaughter.
But the question is, who is afraid of M4. Well I'm telling you, I'm afraid of M4. There so many of them. It's not a problem do destroy them, but what if used all my munition. I hope I can use a sticks and stones to kill them.
