As we wait for the team to work on the editor and the manual, we might as well point out some useful tips for those who like to screw up the carefully crafted gameplay experience by editing the game. I'll start with these:

To set unit to disband you need to set the "withdrawal code" as 101.
To changed ownership of hex select the hex and press "u".
To change side in editor press "w".

Also; scenario-specific data only seems to include units at the moment, so if you want to edit factories (which also includes manpower, railyards etc) you need to edit generic data, which will then change for all scenarios.

Thanks for the info!

Could you please explain how you edit generic data? For example what software you're using to open the .data files and which encoding is used?

Open the game's editor. Instead of loading a scenario, there is an option to load generic data next to it. You may then edit the different data using the top Tabs. Return to the main tab to select which .dat file you want to save. Finally press the save generic data option at the bottom.

Lets Play Bulgaria!
In WITE1 I used the Slovaks to create fantasy Bulgarian expeditionary corps.
In WITE2, can I edit the manpower for Bulgaria? via editor or csv?
Is there a way to unlock the Bulgarian area or the whole Balkans area?
Any idea when the lock/save generic data fix might come out?
Regards
Vermin

Thats uncharted territory there. I dont think Bulgaria is hooked up into the game as far as manpower, locations, production, etc. It doesn't even have ground elements to fill out unit OBs.

Soooo I tested enabling the Bulgarian manpower which seemed to work (gave me the 141 men expected).
And looking at the events, it should be possible to create an event that sets the off map status of Bulgaria and Thrace to false and (if not defaulted to the Axis control), to set control to the Axis.Of course I would need to modify the SU surrender event too.
And creating the necessary factories should also be doable via the editor. I could also amend the Rumanian surrender event and you could have a nice little war in Rumania and Bulgaria to make life more of a challenge for the Soviets later.
Making it all on map solves the problem of upsetting existing TB requirements. If this can be done, it might also be possible to also have some limited Finish war but that would require a lot more effort in terms of unit creation. Still, for the FinFans...:)

SUCCESS! Bulgaria can now be played with! Maybe now Finland can do the same! What an awesome editor!

Could you please explain how to:

1) close the theatre boxes if e.g. I don't want to bother sending units to Africa.

2) Set the strength requirement for a theatre to zero.

I don't know yet!
Depends on what you are trying to achieve:
You already start with an NA garrison so if you let the AI (on both sides) manage the unit transfers to the theatre boxes (except the national reserve) then historical events will occur pretty much when they did.
If you tick enhanced TB control you can evacuate NA - and the consequence will be loss of VP and a much quicker invasion of Italy.
If you set the garrison to 0, you would have to delete the AI (western allied) garrison or they would always 110%+ so events would happen a bit more quickly than normal and you would lose VPs.
Assuming you did set it to 0 and fixed the allied garrison and campaign events, you could explore the what if of having DAK on the eastern front and still have a historical invasion of italy. That would be a fair bit of modding.

Does anyone know how to add the dynamic port icon to a newly created port? Is there a table I can edit to specify it's existence?

1. You need to add a Port (1480) as a Factory in the Locations tab.
2. On the Main tab click INIT RAIL/PORT VALUES

In the Editor whilst On Map press ctrl-b...

...once you are there I think the rest is self explanatory

You can add/remove regions allocated to the TB via the right click menu when the mouse is over a hex belonging to the region.

Thank you, I always thought the Germans should have kept out of N. Africa now I can make it happen.
