Devastating! 3 out of 4 Air Groups launched torpedoes and sink 7 out of 8 BB in Pearl Harbor. Repulse sunk, PoW took one fish. A fantastic start!

As to my strategy:

No deep invasions. In general I will advance under LB air cover and secure line of communications.

Production

Only a few adjustments. Vehicle Production increased to 150, expand Tokyo Repair Shipyard to 100, Naval Shipyards by 116 and Merchant Shipyards by 23.

Production of A6M2 and Ki-43-Ic increased to 72 each (converted the Ki-27 factory in Maebashi to Ki-43-Ic).

R&D

A6M3, A6M5, N1K1-J factories increase to 30, S1A1 Denko convert to A6M3 and increase to 30.
Ki-43-IIb, Ki-44-IIa and Ki-61-Ia factories increase to 30, Ka-1 convert to Ki-43-IIa, Ki-54c convert to Ki-44-IIa and both increase to 30.

Production of Nakajima Ha-35 increased to 315, Nakajima Ha-34 to 72 to build up the pool to 500 engines and speed up R&D.


Pacific Ocean Area

The First Air Fleet will strike PH again. Air Groups of Shokaku/Zuikaku will come in first and Kaga/Akagi/Soryu/Hiryu (set to Naval Attack/Port Attack) come in second. Hopefully the last BB and some CA/CL will be sent to the bottom.

The attack on Wake will be slightly postponed until air cover from the carriers can be provided.

Invasion Fleets heading for Tarawa and Makin will speed up. Invasion Fleet heading to Guam will proceed as planned.

A few subs will proceed to the West Coast, the others are covering First Air Fleet.

Philippines

Kanno Detachment will land at Vigan, Tanaka Detachment at Aparri. Yokosuka 3rd SNLF will be parachuted on Vigan to secure landing grounds.

Air Raids on Manila and Clark Field. Air Groups 3rd Air Division will attack San Fernando and Tuguegarao.

Kimura Detachment and Kure 1st SNLF will land at Legaspi. 20th Infantry, 16th Recon, 16th Engineer and I/33rd Infantry will land at Lamon Bay.

Thailand

33rd Divison and 55th Division (save 144th Infantry) move to Bangkok. Battalions of 143rd Infantry will attack Victoria Point, Tavoy and Mergui to secure these airfields.

Malaya
16th Division advances on Alor Star. 56th Infantry will shock attack Kota Bharu (after massive air strikes) to occupy this important AF as fast as possible. Then HQ 5th Air Division will be flown in to support the air offensive on Singapore. Kanoya Air Group will bomb Singapore at night, Yamada Detachment will sweep Singapore at daylight.

Ki-27bs will defend the beach heads, Hayabusa-equipped air groups will escort (Ia) and sweep (Ib).

56th Division prepares for a landing at Mersing. Imperial Guards Division, Parts 16th and 18th Division move to Malaya by rail.

China

38th Division and 66th Infantry advance on Hong Kong.

I reinforce Ichang, build up the AF to level 4 and raid Chungking.

Other than that I'll try to free up some Divisions for later offensives.

7 Standards sunk ? Is this the best Pearl Harbor result ever ? [&o]

It all depends on how many air groups use torpedoes. In my last PBEM none carried torpedoes and no BB was sunk.

Impressive carnage to the BB's at PH! Your airfield attacks seemed to damage a lot of planes, but not too many destroyed. Your opponent won't have to worry about his repair shipyards being over full for a while. [:D]

I would suggest FoW for 7 of 8 BBs being sunk as your torpedo attack was at about 80% hit success. Did you see the float planes from the BBs being ground loses or the VPs that add up to 7 BBs being sunk?

57 out of 71 torpedoes . . . nice grouping. I'd be tempted to stay for another day. It's not often you get a free shot at the screeners. There's 2 CAs and 6 CLs that are damaged. 4 of the CLs are actually good.

AFAIK, and is sunk means just that.

But, be it as it is. There are 18 Kingfisher listed as destroyed on ground. 7 BB and St. Louis

When it sinks during the combat phase, it is sunk. If it is reported to have sunk later, it may have resurfaced.

Pacific Ocean Area

The Morning Air Attack failed to materialize due to bad weather, so the Afternoon Strike meets an unsuppressed CAP over Pearl.
The Fighter Escort shot down 7 without losses but 12 bombers were shot out of the air and 3 more were lost to flak.
