Are the Soviet losses in this battle WAD?

plausible for a few reasons. There may have been a routed division (or similar) in the hex, that doesn't show in terms of active men (as its routed) but will count for resulting losses.

the other cause (clearly not here) is if you capture a city hex (or similar) then any attached AA or construction units are counted into the losses - but again not shown in the fighting numbers

I had a similar issue with air combat, I lost more planes than the # of planes that supposedly joined a battle (screenshot/context here):

that is probably due to their being existing GA/interdiction missions in the hex - happens a fair bit and it can be odd to see planes (or excess losses) when none were committed via GS

If not a bug, I was thinking that it had something to do with all the nearby Soviet units being isolated.

I had the same issue with air though, and none of the battles that turn occurred on an airfield also (AFAIK), so I don't think it would be caused by planes being captured on the ground in the battle, note the battle locations in the screenshot linked in he previous post, no airfields were captured.

nothing to do with airfields, but if there was an earlier air mission in the hex then the commitment (& any losses) is picked up in a subsequent ground combat result
