[Fixed] Cannot manually change torpedo load

Hello,

Here's a situation in B1147.20 where you are unable to manually command a submarine to change the weapon loaded in its torpedo tubes.

Here's a Shang with a full normal loadout. All torpedo tubes are full of Yu-10 torpedoes.

Image

I want to manually command the sub to take two torpedoes out of the tubes, and replace them with YJ-82 anti-shipping missiles. I tick the reload priority for those weapons in those two tubes, and start the program running again.

Image

Normally, the time to fire would start showing a countdown, and the weapons would be changed after a few minutes. In this case, nothing happens, and the torpedoes are not changed for missiles.

However, the program is now trying to add a series of empty torpedo entries to the Torpedo Decoys magazine.

Image

At the moment, it looks like the only way to get the sub to switch weapons is to fire the torpedoes first. Then they can reload with something else.

I think this was reported previously. If the magazine is full, it won't reload. If you remove one round from the magazine, it'll reload the priority reload.

Yes, this will affect any submarine which comes from the database with full magazines. That currently includes Churchills, LAs (688 and 700s), Type 91s, Type 93s, Kilos, Victors, Alfas, and many more.

I think we can be reasonably confident that all those subs which went to sea with standard loadouts actually did have the capability to swap munitions without shooting them first. [:D]

Previous behaviour allowed for munition swaps, and should be restored.

A clarification on the empty torpedo entries. They go into whatever magazine happens to be listed first, not specifically the Torpedo Decoy magazine. For example, here is a Han with numerous extra empty torpedo entries in its main magazine.

Image

As far as I can tell, these continue to accumulate indefinitely, and you can rapidly accumulate thousands of them. If that happens, once you expand the first magazine the extra entries can cause the Magazine Status window to freeze up.

Image

At this point you cannot close the window or resume the game, and to the player it may look like a full crash.

To the first issue, Yes, I know. It's been reported and I am pretty sure a tracking umber was assigned.

Andrew's got a solid history of bug reporting. This pestering reporters over stupid stuff has got to stop. If you're on the beta team and he caught this, you didn't and now you're banging on him, shame on you.

It was reported in the beta team also. I am just pointing it out so the threads can be linked. I'm not sure just pointing out that its been reported multiple times is really pestering. Someone has their sensitive underwear on today.

Yeah blah blah blah..doesn't move anything forward either. Try and do better.

Just cringed thinking about you thinking about anybody in their underwear. Creeeeeepy.

Did this move stuff forward:

"Okay lets try this way.

You are like puss filled boil on nice of ass of bikini model. You are nasty to everybody but then try to sweeten things up with a nice post somewhere else. That's nice but you're still a boil on a beautiful thing!

Somebody please pop him already! Even Troy Goodchuckles mention about this place. He does it!

Have a nice weekend."

Did you think everyone forgot you pretended to be a brand new player. Even pretending to call the devs by the wrong names. Did that move stuff forward? I'm still not sure what you think you really accomplished. You spent three years supposedly hiding behind weird non-English English and then had a sudden coming out party as "yourself".

I still think, and I know others do to, that there was something weird and disturbing going on.

Is that what you consider an attack? Take a look at a couple things you've sent my way.

Post anything. I don't care. People that know me and I care about aren't gonna change their minds because of something you post on a web forum. If they follow this forum they also know your net persona here, which means they're not likely to bite . You have no power here or in real life. You just, for some reason, don't know that.

All I can ask if you cut reporters a little slack. We all want the same thing. Nobody is looking back weeks to see this or that. That expectation is a bit high.

Thanks

Mike

BDukes & thewood1,

WTF guys? Do you really believe that any of this sophomoric back and forth is doing anything other than make other forum member see how childish and petty you are? Any real contributions are completely lost when “here they go again” displays itself.

New (and old) members would correctly believe the Matrix forums exists to ask / answer Command simulation questions, exchange ideas and generally be a neutral arena for productive discourse.

Please stop with the petty, non-productive sniping that benefits no one including yourselves.

As the song says “GET OVER IT”.

Sure. Thanks Wayne.

I only put those two links there for reference, precisely because they were posted outside of the tech support forum and thus difficult to find. Just so everyone is on the same page with what has been discussed about this previously. Definitely not an attack on anyone, if anyone thought that.

I think we can be reasonably confident that all those subs which went to sea with standard loadouts actually did have the capability to swap munitions without shooting them first. [:D]

I've been on one submarine, an old WWII Gato class museum ship, and would say that was probably NOT the case; the torpedo room is extremely cramped, torpedoes are actually very large, and if there is only one cradle, you need to store the torpedo that you just took out of the tube before you put the new one on the cradle. Of course this might very from class to class and era to era, but I would not assume the capability as universal.

On the other hand, as a gameplay mechanic, I'm all for allowing full-magazine swaps because otherwise the player is at the mercy of the database loadout and that is not realistic either.

A further note, this also prevents submarines from automatically switching their torpedoes to mines when assigned to a minelaying mission.

This can be worked around manually by leaving an empty space in the magazines, although the player must understand the 1 mine = 0.5 torpedoes rule. Leaving only one mine worth of space is not enough, and will cause the magazine error when the sub starts trying to lay mines.
