I bought Combat mission Black sea as well as the battlepack earlier this year. So far I have successfully installed the base version. Am stumped on how to activate the battle pack. The battle pack scenarios are greyed out. I have the key for the battlepack installation

Sounds like you didn't include the seperate key for the battle-pack when you ran the setup utility. If that is the case you'll need to run the setup again and select the battle0pack and enter the key you received for it. That should do it!
