PBEM++ problems

I recently started a game with NotOneStepBack via the PBEM server. I set up the game, and put it on the server. He did his first turn (he is Axis), over several days and with saves in between.

When ending the turn the games asked him to make a PBEM file, instead of saving it to the server. He send me the file, and it does work as an old style PBEM file. On the server the game shows him as "active" and the turn as not finished.

Any idea what goes wrong? We could proceed with an old style email game, but prefer an PBEM++ game.

The PBEM++ servers are up and working as far as we can tell. Could this be a connection/ISP issue on your side? Are you able to try saving to the server again?

Server works fine on my side, just got in a notification on another game. But it could be a problem on my opponents side... I'll ask him.

The server works fine for me -- I clicked end turn when I was in the game and it then ran the phases for Soviet ....once done it asked me to save the game as a PBEM file. I sent it to Bertram and it works, yet the server did not save any of my changes or calculate the next turn. It's still where I left it over a day ago....even though I completed the turn on the server.

Not sure what we should do, do you want me to replay the turn on the server or should we go old school?

I should say I'm running 1.0.00, I guess I should update, could this be the cause?

It shouldn't ask to save you a PBEM file, unless you are not logged into server game.

No, there were no changes to PBEM/Server routines, but new version is much better when it comes to memory allocations, so it should be less prone to corrupted saves.

I just went online and re-did the turn and saved to server.

I reloaded the game afterwards and all I have to do is hit "end turn"

When I do it asks me about AI depot management which I say yes end turn without AI depot management. Then it runs the turn and brings up the save PBEM file screen. I save it to desktop and it takes me back to the menu and the turn has not processed on the server.

I've done this twice now and with the latest version.

I just tested this again and did run AI depot management to see if it makes a difference and it does not. Ending the turn does not process on the server for Bertram to start.

After the turn processes this is what I see

Image

It doesn't matter if I save or not it just exits the server if I do or don't.

I am able to upload/save to the server if I don't end the turn. I just can't end the turn in anyway for Soviet player to start.

I checked my firewall status and WITE2 is allowed through.

I think your save file on server got corrupted. I'll check it out and try to repair it.

I checked save file on server and it looks good, but wrongly flagged as "normal" PBEM.

I found an issue in the game code when server game can get wrongly flagged as "normal PBEM", if you create challenge with pressed "PBEM" button on main menu.

Attached exe file should clear wrong PBEM flag and let you end server game. Please try it out. Thanks.

To install it:

1. Make copy of current exe file
2. Extract WarInTheEast2.exe to the game installation folder.
