Ghost Army

Hi Guys,

I've several divisions that are attached to the Ghost 28th Army that doesn't exist anywhere on map.....

And that Rifle Division is 287 hexes from him. Is it supposed to be in central Siberia? [:D]

Oh no that's the apparent Ghost Army location....Uncle Joe must have been very very unhappy with their performance it seems[;)]

what happened to this army ?
Was it lost or disbanded?
It's present in GC41 with arrival on Turn 1

Upon further analysis I think it may have something to do with City Fort's. It was allocated to and in Smolensk when the useless City Fort fell during Axis T7. It's a PBEM so I'll mail you and Joel the save from T6 and T7 with my password.....and no Loki don't offer them any bribes to obtain the password [;)]

city forts in the past have triggered this wierd jump to the map edge, there was one problem when a rifle brigade attached as an SU flipped to being a rifle division, and a few others.

its indicative of just how hard it is to insert a new concept into the game design that it has created a fair few unexpected outcomes.

mind you, given the speed of their surrender I'm not surprised that some of your units didn't stop till they'd reached the tundra [;)]

Now now....we've discussed the City Fort thing in e-mail...needless to say unless changes are are as to their applicability/defence bonus in additional terrain types I'll be spending those precious AP's into appointing immense leaders like Marshall Speedyevsky to the key sectors![;)]

Yes, the unit was in the city fort. On your next turn (7), it shows as being a reinforcement set to arrive in 8 turns. I was able to duplicate this by attacking Smolensk. Usually when HQs are retreated when surrounded, they are just displaced instead of being destroyed. Likely something caused by it being in a City fort. I will bug this. Thanks for the saves.

No problem at all. The worst part of this is Herr Loki obtained gallons of my finest Vodka which was stored for a siege in Smolensk[:@] I don't suppose your special powers could retrieve this for me (along with a few 1000 expert pliots as well?[;)])

BTW, it's possible that this is WAD behavior and that it is intended that the HQs will be destroyed and then will rebuild according to normal rebuilding rules. I have to check on that, and if so will get it documented. It would make sense because putting them in the city fort is guaranteeing that the HQ is there and will suffer the full fate as the other isolated units.

If it is WAD I’d recommend the affected attached units/divisions etc automatically acquire the higher chain HQ as they normally would do with a disbanding HQ
