Would like to see "Kampfgruppe" units.
KG unit that appears near the frontlines for a limited amount of time. After the loss of a division.
Don't have much more to elaborate on. Maybe others could chime in with some thoughts on the matter.

What would be the difference between a KG/BG and a low-strength division augmented with support units?

I envision a temporary unit created 1 turn after a division is shattered.
It would have a name not a number.
It would have the ability to merge with any existing unit.
It would automatically disband after 2 turns.
That is the KG I'd like to see in a nutshell.

well realistically when you split a panzer division into regiments, you're really splitting it into 3 kampfgruppe each of which can be further augmented with attached units. It's not like you're getting 3 tank regiments, you're getting 3 battlegroups of regiment size with artillery, tanks, infantry and all that jazz. I say it's close enough.

I like this idea, and maybe it would be limited in number and more by year. It was part of the flexibility of the German army to scratch together such units that were actually viable.

This.
Additionally, a Panzerdivision was often splitted into two asymmetric Kampfgruppen, one AFV heavy (with all the tanks, infantry in HTs, armoured recce, and SP guns) and the other infantry heavy (truck borne infantry, towed artillery). So, if a Kampfgruppe command is to be added to the WitE2 interface, it should allow splitting divisions into asymmetric subunits, instead of the three homogeneous "regiments". Don't know whether it'll be worth the hassle.

A long time ago I raised the issue of splitting divisional assets unevenly among battle groups. Would be a nice and realistic feature.
