Ran into an interesting issue / bug / working as designed?


Italy declared war on the UK.

The UK owns Malta.

There are UK transports and perhaps other ships in port, but there are French ships there also.


The Italians are unable to bomb the UK naval vessels there.


Is that how it is supposed to work?

Check if Italy did DoWN to both countries, France and UK.

Well I don't want to fight France...just the UK.
And he is hiding his ships. That is not just plain not nice.


It should not be that you can put 10 UK ships in a port and then move in one French DD to hide them all from their enemies.

My opinion is that if France and Uk are allies, it should not be possible to do DoW only to one of them, this problem would not exist.

I did not want to fight France yet...
There are UK transports with French support.

I guess if that is the way it is then so be it. Was just wondering was all.

The interesting thing I found is...
If the UK has a fleet in port...say 3 CV, 3 BB, 3 CA...and a French DD moves in...the fleet becomes "French".
You only have to declare war on France and you can attack the fleet.
BUT if you declare war on only the UK you can not attack the fleet.


To add to this oil is not being used correctly.
The French do not have a lot when the game begins. The UK normally has to transfer oil to France so that they can fly their planes and operate their ships...

BUT if the UK moves 1 ship onto the Fleet of 7 in the Med that fleet is now considered the UK and only uses UK oil.
The French get free UK oil...

Then again...maybe this is there on purpose?


That does not seem correct but I am just a player.

Oil issue might be a bug I will check it out. each country should use it's own oil.

As for DoWs it's a 2 sided sword. I can't make automatic join the the war DoW effects because of how that works in the game. It will impact the USSR.

But consider this. If the Allied players thinks placing a French PG in a stack of UK transports is wise because them you have to DoW on both.... then DoW on both. The transports are still there and you are using air. What are you afraid of? To me this is an opportunity. The UK is protecting their fleet with a DoW ruling where if normally played he wouldn't even place those fleets there. So get all your planes put them 1 opt point away from the target. Next turn move them 1 opt point, DoW on France, wipe the fleet out. Who cares if the French are in it.

You are still sinking UK vulnerable ships at the cost of cheap planes.

I would love to wipe the fleet out. Sadly my Italian paper airplanes can't hit the side of a barn.

Is there any bonus for ships in port? They are not "moving" I would expect they are much easier to hit by any bombers.
