air units not advancing

Set all to advance with my army (Axis).Why will they not re-base closer to the front?
the AI-assist is very supply aware and doesn't like to move up to poorly supplied airfields.
This is basically sensible (& something that a lot of players who take up manual control should pay more attention to), but of course means the airforce lags behind.
If you can, make sure a given cluster of airfields have a depot (not that easy if your railhead has lagged behind), otherwise focus your air transport assets at airbase supply, a decent drop can add enough resources to bring an airbase into use (& thus the AI will make use of it).
Just check, though what they are following/stance and where that HQ is - I've made some rather embarrasing mistakes in this regard [8D]
