Hi, I'm a relative newbie and am playing a pbem vs Drex. Still very early in the campaign so I'm still relatively unscathed; won't last long I'm sure. I posed this question to Drex, who gave me suggestions, but he also recommended I poll the forum. Can you suggest a good book that chronicles the Pacific Campaign, written in an easy style and not too deep. I have NO history teachings (all my University time spent taking medical courses etc) but this game (which I LOVE) has really whetted my appetite. Just want to know what happened to who and when it happened. The few high scool history courses I did take here in Canada covered NO WWII history (learned a hell of a lot about Louis Riel though), so any knowledge I do have is from playing Avalon Hill board games and from reading this forum. Thank you for any suggestions.
P.S I highly recommend Drex as a pbem opponent. He is very patient with my newbieness, takes the time to answer all of my long winded questions, knows the game very well and is an all around good sport.

The favorite 'easy' WWII Pacific books in my collection are:

Dan ver der Vat "The Pacific Campaign"
Dunnigan and Nofi "Victory at Sea"
Robert Leckie "Delivered from Evil: The Saga of WWII"

The last one covers Europe as well.

A great website on the Japanese navy in the war is combinedfleet.com

And check the links for UV from the Matrix home page to find other web sites.

Thanks Kevin. I might point out that Soulblazer and Nasrullah are more than adequate opponents and while you are beating me you might take them on for some entertaining gaming.

Thanks for all of the replies, truly a wonderful community on this forum. My mind is totally preoccupied with the game against Drex, I think I'd have a seizure if I started another! I even dream about this **** game! Gotta love it.
