I must have clicked on something.. combat was resolving pretty quickly and now it shows what happens to every plane and every small unit and it takes about 5 min to finish. Have done some reading in the manual, how do I get it back to rapid combat resolution?

You can scale the combat messages with a # key. Try it at 1 or 2. Beyond that you start seeing what you’re seeing

The most detailed message level is one step above real time. "Soldier #4875 loads ammunition. Fires at 50 yards"

I think 2 or 3 is probably the best. 3 if you want to learn more about how the combat system, 2 if you just want things to move along while still giving adequate information.
