Sept 13, 1942 turn playing Allies against Japan AI, two USA submarine units simply disappear from the map after reports note that they attacked South China Sea convoy lanes. There is no report that they have been attacked or sunk. They don't show up as units anymore on the Reports and Statistics screen, nor is there a record of any battle.

Seems like a bug - but could it be a fog of war thing (in WWII, some subs just disappeared)?

Can you post a link to download the saved game?
Did you check previous turn logs?

Unfortunately, I didn't save that turn. I went back to an earlier turn and tried to replicate the what happened, but so far I haven't been able to recreate the disappearances. I'll keep trying and if I can replicate it, I'll send the saved game files.

I think I know why. It might be an A.I. bug.

Someone else posted that their subs were attacked by Japanese A.I. CVs. I will be looking into it today.

Also it is possible the subs got sunk by land based air power.
