Hermes air wing experience

Is there a historical or gameplay reason why the Hermes' air wing has 10% starting experience, a uniquely low value in the game. I did some basic fact skimming and couldn't find anything about them being particularly undertrained.

The only version that had Hermes at 10% by accident was a Beta version. I am looking at the current 1941 scenario and they are at 60%.

I'm on Ver 1.00 and the Hermes definitely has 10% exp. Is there a patch up somewhere I need to grab? I'm used to steam automatically doing everything for me [>:]

Can verify. Hermes starts with 10% air experience in my version and I did not do Beta

While this graphic is up here, explain to me what 6 and 10% mean? I've went to the manual several times and can't find an explanation! The tool tip just says planes!

6 is the strength of the carrier's air unit.
10% is the air units experience

I wonder if they didn't update the scenarios correctly in the build. Or maybe I fixed it after release and forgot to note it in the logs. But I do remember distinctly fixing it.

Thanks. Hovering over it says carrier planes, so I've been wondering for so long why my US carriers didn't go up from 50% planes carried.

It is in the manual, don't remember where, but you have to read the manual 3-4 times to really get it. I still go back and find, "Wow, I didn't know that."

Well I found the reason why it's not on the bug list and why it looks updated in my version yet isn't updated..... me.
I was looking at the ship experience not the air component experience.
So now it is really fixed and will be in the logs. But I swore I fixed this earlier.

No Problem.
I cannot imagine being one person and taking on a project like this.

CVs and CVLs both seem to have the same strength airgroup (6), am I reading this right ?
Does 'Hermes' have the same strength airgroup as 'Enterprise', or 'Lexington' ?

Strength does not represent attack or defense values. Strength is just how many hit points something has. The Hermes, as a CVL, has lower attack and defense values.
In reality the Enterprise and Yorktown carried like 60-80 planes while the Hermes carried 20+.
So as a base a CV air has 6 hp, 4 air combat value and 8 naval attack value.
A CVL will air has 6 hp, 2 air combat value, and 4 naval attack value.

A naval group not only represents the capital ship but escorts as well.

And yes. For 1 person it is a massive undertaking. I was too stupid and stubborn to realize how large of a massive undertaking it was when I first made this. However difficult you think it is, multiply that by 3.
But I had to do it to set the universe right.

Thanks for the CV/CVL responses, I see how much more I have to learn and it has been an amazing project.

I suggest you read this before you take on the Warplan + Warplan Pacific project [;)]

I did read it. That isn't the issue. It's systems upon system of complexity under the hood to make the game easy to use for players while simultaneously making sure they all work together seamlessly so I don't have to change code in 15 different spots. All this while designing a rules set.
The main reason I made WPE then WPP was to refine the engine over 4 years specifically for each unique theater.
When these theaters are balanced enough I will make WarPlan 2 based on these maps and rules set for a global game.
My whole evil plan is to steal all the World in Flames players. Muhahahahaha!

You won me over with WPE.
As I said when WPE came out, you are designing the game(s) that was in my head. It is, by far (in my opinion), the best of its genre.
For WPP, I'm already a fan. I'm terrified to engage the IJN. The first time I did, I got my butt kicked (3 carriers lost). I thought I had a good plan. I did not.
