Possible game corruption after patching

This may not be related but I had my first save file corruption in this game tonight after patching. Its the Solomon's 1942 game and I had just sunk Enterprise, Yorktown, and Saratoga.

I don't break games with patching. It could be the save game just got corrupted. It happens in PBEM and on rare occasions local saved drive.
Can you tell me what happened?

I patched and started the saved game of the solomons. I played normally for maybe a dozen or more turns, then clicked to end the turn, and answered yes to the confirmation. I had noticed a slight lag of several seconds in earlier turns between clicking yes and the dialog disappearing and the enemy turn processing. I had not noticed this lag playing the 1941 and 1942 campaigns in the last two weeks.
At any rate, this time when I clicked yes nothing seemed to happen. I allowed the game to sit for at least a few minutes and nothing happened.
Again it could be unrelated but I have never seen a corrupt save game with WP or WP:P and wanted to report it.
