The End Game Now button does not end the game

How to complete the PBEM + multiplayer game. The End Game Now button does not end the game as expected. When I quit the game, my turn is displayed again.

rpg42, is this a new problem or have you had it before? Have you tried restarting the game and loading the last game save to see if it works right?

I have this problem all the time, not in the first game.

I'm bringing this post back because it sounds like the same issue.
Playing version 2.0.14s on Steam, when me or my PBEM partner try to End Game in a PBEM++ game, it correctly shows the end of game screen and debrief, but when you click to continue and get the popup message about how your opponent will be able to view it one more time, the game shuts down - I think crashes? I'm assuming you're meant to go back to the main menu instead of the game totally closing.
Then when we login to the PBEM server again, the game is in the exact state it was before, on our turn, not ended.
Is there any workaround for this, or way to force resign a game? Why is the handy looking resign button in the PBEM menu always greyed out and unusable?
Otherwise I suppose after 37 days the games will be deleted from the servers if we don't touch them, but it would keep things a lot tidier to be able to resign
