V3.3 42 Campaign

I'm playing the 42 campaign as Russia against K62.
We started with 2 truce turns that enabled the Soviets to withdraw a few exposed armies.

Now we're in the middle of 1943 and Moscow is threatened by 2500 Tigers
There is simply no way to stand up to this: any attack will shatter and any defences will be worn down.
(House rules limits interdictions to 3 against a single unit each turn.)

In my last mail to K62 I said that if I'm going to play the Reds in 42 again, I'd demand that the AI should controll air and tank production to avoid the Tiger menace.

What I'm looking for is a way to turn a very interesting campaign into a more balanced pbem game.

Any suggestions, experiences or ideas?

Ofcourse, but I'd prefer to play with more handicap to give you a fighthing chance ;)

Let's hand production over to the AI and see what happens!
I'll bet it'll become more interesting......

Sorry, I don't want to mass them for you :p You'll have to do it yourself:)

Come on, I want to prove myself that I can be just as brave as you are!

Play version 3.2.
You can do minor changes to production but not all Tigers!!!

Do you mass kv1E's yourself? They have 17 armor so they should suffer much less losses the t34's. And kv85 will come in 43 which is nearly tiger quality. With higher soviet production you should be able to defeat those cat's:) Build massive tank armies and ambush the panzers. 3 tank armies will finish off a panzer korps, and kv1E's will keep your losses low while beating the backup infantry, and tolerable while finishing off the panzers.

No I'm not producing just KV's.. They got decent armour but low attack ratings. The T34/85 and KV85's are good tanks, but I fear that all will be lost by the time they appear in great numbers.

It's ok that the Germans mass produce Panthers, by the time they are numerous they will meet a match.

I'm not usually nagging about un-historical aspects of the game, but fielding more Tigers in mid 43 than were produced all together in the entire war is a little to much I think.

That is the whole problem with removing the distinction between medium and heavy tanks.
For Germans in particular they were viewed as different, used differently and never integrated in the Panzer divisions.

I agree with you a 100% here Matt!

We all like to fill our ranks with the best possible equippment:
The problem is that this removes both game balance and historical accuracy!

The 'stupid AI produces Me109G's instead of FW190's!'.
Well, this was exactly what happened during much of the war.

What's the use of imposing new house rules that forbids Axis satellite units to fight on the West/South fronts when you change history in a far more dramatic way by changing the entire AFV production?

Must admit that this is exactly what I've been doing in all my WIR games thus far: I've changed production to what suited me best.

If I can find a willing opponent I'd like to play either side in a 42 campaign with house rules and with the AI controlling the production....

I'm really curious what this would do for the game!
If anyone has tried it, pls post your experiences.
