In a thread in The War Room there was an excellent set of hints listed. One stated "Sub hunters are fleets on a convoy route. 24 hex range. CVs add +1% bonus to escorts. Destroyers add +0.5% to escorts." I thought I verified this in the manual. But the manual states the following: "Carrier battle groups add a 2% bonus to convoy escort damage chances vs subs. Patrol groups add a 1% bonus to convoy escort damage chances vs subs within their radius of protection." Nothing about destroyer groups and the percent's are different.

Not sure if I read the manual wrong about sub hunters or the manual was changed (which by the way is the same wording as War Plan Europe). But would like to verify which is correct.

Well the manual is based on WPE which the numbers you read fit. Perhaps they were not updated if they changed?

I just went back and ran an experiment. I think the original wording is correct. Carriers offered 1% bonus and destroyer groups offered .5%. The caveat is that the destroyer groups cannot be out alone. Must be paired with another destroyer group or the effect is lost. Basically have to be grouped in even amounts (two destroyer groups, four destroyer groups, six destroyer groups etc.) or all or some effect is lost. Also patrol groups (2 strength surface groups) do not seem to protect convoys.

I believe Alvaro rounds down so the .5% would be lost.
