Are the two Russian light cruisers in the Black Sea of any use?

I've asked that question myself on occasion. You can use them to preform shore bombardment on Axis ground units (not in a city or town if you want to avoid damage). They won't do much to suppress them but they'll gain some experience that way. If Turkey should ever join the Allies, then they can escape from their land-locked prison and operate in the Mediterranean or elsewhere. By that point Germany is usually toast. Maybe they can head for the Pacific and help harass Japan.

I'd also be curious to know why the Black Sea fleet in the game doesn't include the Soviet battleship Paris Commune. She took part int the Siege of Sevastopol.

It reminds me of what the controversial American political theorist Allan Bloom said about gender egalitarianism: "The law may prescribe that the male nipples be made equal to the female ones, but they still will not give milk"! [:D]

As it's a counterfactual, no real way to prove it, but I'd expect amphibious landings across the Black Sea would be fairly common if these CLs did NOT exist (or at least, the possibility would likely force the Soviets to hold more troops back to avoid a trivial turning of defensive lines)

If you think those two light cruisers are useless, try taking the decision event as Germany where you place a U-Boat unit there in the Black Sea. There isn't much for it to do but try and chase those CLs around.[:D]
