Basic features of this NATO counter mod:
• Bigger shields on ground units.
• Round air units with types indicated by symbols.
• Flags as HQ shields.
• Nationality indicators on all counters.
• Plus some other stuff for Marine units etc.

Changes in version 1.3:
• Changed shield color on Indian ground units.
• Tweaked night mission indicator on naval units.

Changes in version 1.2:
• US Air Superiority Group silhouette changed to F6F Hellcat. (Cause a vertical silhouette of the iconic F4U Corsair looks too lame.)
• US Ground Attack Group silhouette changed to SB2C Helldiver.

Installation instructions:
Simply drop the “units.png” file from the Dropbox link into the folder of the campaign you want to play.
(The Excel file is primarily for me to keep track of what I’m doing.)
For example into: ..[user]\Documents\My Games\WarPlan Pacific\Campaigns\Pacific 1941\..
For those who prefer the Rising Sun flag on Japanese HQs, use the file “units Rising Sun.png” instead, after renaming it to “units.png”.

Disclaimer:
I unfortunately don’t know how to find out for sure so I’ve assumed that all nationalities per counter row in the “units.png” file remain unchanged from WarPlan.
If some nationalities should have been changed or added in WP Pacific however, please let me know and I’ll adjust the mod accordingly.

2) click here to upload image
3) Choose file - select the image you wish to upload. (there is a size limit)


4) Click OK once uploaded.

Undetected enemy units show up like these dots.

Do ALL your undetected enemy units appear as those dots?
Undetected enemy units appear OK for me.
And I sure haven’t made any “dot” counters…

I have noticed some bad counter color choices though, so I'll be changing counter colors for some minor nations.

I deleted the unit.png file, and then downloaded it again and used the rising sun.png (after renaming it unit.png) and it works fine now.

The spooky dots appear because Alvaro used the space formerly taken up by the FoW counters for torpedo boat units and moved the FoW units two steps to the right on the units file. When the game tries to show a FoW unit, there is nothing there, so the only thing that is shown is the dash between the omitted combat values.

But Phalen's counters seem fine, so I can't see why the problem should have arisen in the first place.

I didn’t like how the Philippine & US (as well as Thai & Japanese) units looked similar.
So I’ve made some changes in a version 1.1 in post #1.

I like your work but could you change the green color for the Chinese units? They look similar to US units.

Counter colors is a hard one to get right…
I will not change Chinese counter colors in the mod.
Because:
• The Chinese light green color somehow feels right to me. (Like really worn-out battle fatigues.)
• Especially green color variants are hard for many people to distinguish between.
• The green DEI units (for instance) look much more similar to US units than the Chinese units.
• There will probably not be many US units adjacent to Chinese units in a game.
• And there’s the nationality indicator on all units of all nations in the mod.

Having said that, I could make & send you alternatively colored Chinese units (changing counter colors is easy) if you PM me some ideas/specs about your color preferences.

Hello PHalen, thank you for offering me an individual solution but I think I will be fine with the green color. I would prefer light blue for the Chinese but the problem is that their national flag is also blue.

Tweaked to version 1.2 as mentioned in post #1 above to give US air units a more Pacific flavor.

Changed my mind about Indian ground units so I’ve adjusted their shield color a bit so that Indian & UK ground unit colors no longer are identical.
