USA carrier ops

I've been playing a while and still have not worked out an effective fleet configuration for USA carrier ops. i.e the AI seems to put its carriers in one fleet for max offense. I've read/heard it suggested to put one carrier in its own fleet. Then to put three fleets in one hex or to keep them separated by a hex.

Recommendations?
Thanks.

See page 166-167 of the manual- "7.2.1.11 COORDINATING STRIKES". For the purposes of strike coordination single carrier TFs are best in 1942, if they have full airgroups.

In 1944 I use the 4 carrier Tf (2 fleet, 2 lights) with a fast BB, 4 cruisers (more if available), and fill out to the 25* maximum with Fletchers to get the flack over 25,000 points. There is about a 20% chance of coordination penalties with those aircraft numbers.

*See page 90 of the manual. Inefficient AAA is still more AAA, so I go over 15 ships.

Thanks for pointing this out. Don't know how I missed this, but I did.
