Question on AI Air Assist

I've found from a playstyle perspective, I would love to be able to control the movement of AOG as well as the Air Directives themselves and then leave everything else for managing the transfer of groups etc. to the AI. Is there a way to do this? Any AI management option automatically handles the movement (and I have found doesn't usually put AOG where I really want or need them, especially fighters close to the front). Thoughts?

If you do not have the AI Air Assist check box active then the AI Air Assist will only perform when you hit the AI Air Assist button. Normally you would hit this button twice in a turn - once before the Air Phase and the second time right before you end your turn.
Typically (there are exceptions) the AI Air Assist will plan Air Directives and then turn the control back to the player. The player then has the ability to alter the defined directives and possibly add new ones that are desired. The second click before the end of the turn will perform the movement and the transfers to/from the Reserve box. But the player now has a chance to change things before ending the turn.
The AI Air Assist will usually (once again there are exceptions) setup delayed transfers (so that the logistics can be setup before the transfer is executed during the Air Phase) so you can cancel the transfer and do what you wish. Actually the easiest way to control the movement of the AOGs yourself is to set every AOG to the HOLD stance then the AI will not move the AOG at all. But make sure that you use IMMEDIATE transfers or the transfer will be cleared by the AI Air Assist when activated.
