invalid serial number

I saw there was a new update. I decided to reinstall the game. I went to MY Page and copied the serial number and used the link from My Page to download the installer and I keep getting invalid serial number.

Hi Erik,
I try to reinstall the game after more than ten years with last updated digital .exe, but i got the message "invalid serial number"
I see others had the same issue but don't find a solution.
I have an old DVD box serial !

My serial is apparently "invalid".

Hi guys,
First, make sure you haven't pasted in any leading or trailing spaces.
Second, were these copies purchased from us directly or were they retail copies?
Are these the serial numbers you've registered on our site at your "My Page"? If they appear to match those there but are not working with the installer, could you please e-mail me at
erikr@matrixgames.com and include your serial number so that I can check with the Ops team to find out why those are not working with the update?
