Desert War will not Work

I have some sort of technical issue with Desert War. I cannot get it to work and I don't know where to go from here. I have the latest version of Windows 10. Since I purchased the game, I have deleted it and reinstalled it at least three times. Every time I have done this, I have gotten a message that said the game downloaded and installed successfully. Same with the updates. I have specifically downloaded and successfully installed Java SE Binary. Everything should be good. But when I try to actually play the game, it opens to the "play the game" page and then to the scenarios whereupon it gets stuck. Moreover, I cannot get off the scenario page unless I restart the computer. Recently, I had a hard drive fail and had to replace my hard drive. So the latest download and reinstall was onto a hard drive that was relatively empty. That didn't make any difference with this problem. Anybody else having this problem? Does anybody have any ideas about how to solve it? Thank you.

Hi, that's odd.
Can you go into where the game is installed,
C:/Program Files(x86)/Matrix Games/Desert War 1940-42
and double click on the "start.bat"
This will open a black command/console window and start the game.
Do what you did and see if any errors pop up in that window.
Also, can you check the Documents/My Games/Desert War directory and check if there is any Error.txt files in there?
Cheers,
Brian

I went to C: Desert War and double clicked start.bat. The game worked right up to the moment I selected a scenario. Then I got this: Cannot load file:c\users\mike\documents\my games\desert war\scn\41_12_2nd Battle of Bardia.scn. And yes, there were two error messages, error 0 and error 1 (I assume because I tried twice.
