don't run unescorted missions too close to the front. If it really is a para drop then make sure you have fighter escorts.

if its air transport of freight then look carefully at the target HQ and try not to use one that is on the front line.

Thank you for your response; however i did not order those drops AI did. So how can i prevent that?

aye, realised that - hence the second sentence.

With air transport AOGs you either set a HQ for them to follow or 'none'. In the latter case it will supply airbases in its operational range. If the HQ is right up at the front, the airdrops will be as close to the front as possible, if the HQ is to the rear thats where the drops will go (not a bad idea as it brings freight into your forward positions).

If you fear enemy interception then basing a fighter AOG (ie link to the same HQ) in that area will help (at the least it will trigger auto-intercepts) or aim for a HQ set back a bit.

if you want to minimise allocation of transport planes (so you don't really want much resupply to take place),then set the 'asset priority' to 1 or 0, that'll clear the planes back to the reserve for when you really do want them. This is not a bad idea come the autumn rains.

edit: worth stressing, pretty much any interaction between the VVS and the LW will trigger high Soviet losses till you get to mid-43, so really the only safe solution is to avoid contact.

One good thing, the Soviets get far more transport planes than they get transport AOGs, so in effect from mid-42 onwards you can absorb fairly high losses. Before mid-42 using air resupply is pretty optional for a Soviet player (hence the advice to set your asset priority to low values)

Another note is that you can manually perform the supply drops even with the AI Air Assist turned on. This would burn up their air miles and the AI will not be able to assign the missions.
