Today would be a good day to revisit "Saving Private Ryan" or "The Longest Day" or whatever is your favorite D-Day movie or documentary. Next year is a big one--60 years--it still boggles my mind how much the world has changed in this relatively brief span in human history. Nevertheless, the men who made this landing, and just as importantly, the men who made all those opposed landings in the Pacific Theater on Tarawa, Saipan, Peleliu, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and other islands helped define America's role as a defender of freedom in the world, and it still holds true today. Whether you agree with the policy decisions of today's political leaders or not, the sacrifices those men and women made 60 years ago made it possible for us to have that freedom of choice today, and it should never be forgotten.

God Bless'em

Yes, D-Day is always a special day for me. I just watched Saving Private Ryan again last weekend, had the wife and kids out of the house so I could crank up the sound on the home stereo. Just an awesome movie that shows the horror endured and the sacrifice made by soldiers.
