After 6 games failing to get past turn 5 vs Bitburger, Aurlien, Gam3r, Lisien, dontra85 and dabird I have managed
to find an opponent that has stuck around past turn 5, Gundam1985. We are currently working on turn 11.
I also have 2 other good games going on vs Q-Ball (9) and Shritshell(8) that are just past turn 5.
I guess we should start this story at turn 5.
4th PG cuts off the main rail line from Moscow, while 16th and 18th Armies make small gains and hold the flanks.

9 armor units rest and refit, while infantry divisions move towards the front.

1st PG pushes across the Dnepr, while 6th supports 1st PG flanks and 17th Army arrives at Kiev.
Odessa is cut off and 11th Army starts to arrive at the front finally.

4PG and 16th push another 30 miles up the road net towards Lake Ladoga.

Odessa falls

17th prepares for the assault on Kiev. 1st PG and 6th form a 6 unit pocket and LIV Corp takes Odessa.
I have found that routing units can cause loses as high as surrenders if done right.
A 10,000 man unit will lose 90% plus of men and equipment and the panzer units don't have to sit around waiting to finish off the enemy units the following turn.
Why the 18 units routed or shattered. Its not as good as a surrender. But if your looking to keep an enemy on their back foot to flip hexes it works just fine.
Guessing this tactic is why the 6 early surrenders?

Are those maps Turn 5? If so, that's very good progress
Also, Soviets have 2.3 mil on the MAP (critically low), and 913,000 in Reserves.....he needs to get units on the map. Does your opponent know how to use the reserve box?
All those routs and shatters may also be because he is not keeping his Rifle units up to strength
With the progress you've made and 2.3 mil on the map, you are going to grab tons of ground
On the Leningrad map, it looks like there's nobody on the East bank of the Volkhov.....if you can get up to that last port on Lake Ladoga, that will eliminate all of Leningrad front and probably end the game eventually

Yeah, way too many in reserves by this point.
There's also ways to elicit better routs, namely using overwhelming force, deliberate attacking with panzers in open terrain, hitting weak/retreated units hard etc.

This is the way.
This is the Road to Leningrad.
Did your earlier opponents surrender when you reached Lake Ladoga?

To-date your 100% right.
It is far harder to advance vs a commander that has a much lower reserve level.

17th pushes north east of Kiev. 1st PG drives east and the pocket is disappeared.

Resistance in the north stiffens, but I think I can grind it out with a handful of panzer divisions. 4 panzer units head for AGC

A small almost pocket in the center and Kiev falls.

The southern Front is blown open, but AGS is at the very end or over the supply lines limits.
This could get interesting messy.

Leningrad is cut off and more Panzers head to center.
The winter line has already formed and the troops are starting to dig.
