I can not run the game from the menu, nor can I run the 3D version of the game, I can only run the Middle East_no3D.exe.

If I try to run the other two version I get a dialog message box:

Direct Draw Message

LoadImage() failure

OK

And the program closes after you click okay.

The Middle East_no3D works fine.

I can run the JTSCS game just fine, as well as every other game I own (Desert War, War in the West/East 2, Flashpoint Campaign Series and others).

It seems to me that there is something wrong with the 3D version, I am running 2.01.

I think that's a driver issue. Update your video card's driver to the latest and see if that helps.

We think it is a graphics memory issue, hit or miss with the occasional system.

The game tested fine on every one of the Dev Team's systems save one: a Linux system running the game on Wine. The _no3D version resolved the issue on that one system.

But as Dave (Scud) suggests, it is worth investigating if updating your driver and/or tweaking its customizations might make things right.
