Okay, playing Scenario 6 8 dec Full campaign as Allied vs AI Japanese.
Browsing through the aircraft reinforcement pool screen, under the i screen menu, I was looking for transports to fly supplies and troops around.
I saw that the Chinese from May 1943 get 10 C-46A per month. Great! And there were 17 in the pool. But when I try to find a Chinese Tpt air unit, I find they do not have any. All the transports in China are US! Even the CNAC is listed as an American unit.
10 a month may not seem like much but that is 120 a year, not to be sneezed at. So where are these C-46A reinforcements supposed to go? Who gets to use them? I hate the thought of all those Chinese C-46A going to waste when I could really use them.

The reinforcements info can show various nations that use a common aircraft. The Air Unit that uses them does not have to be the same nation as the Air HQ that it reports to. So your NCAC air unit may be US, but it is intended to be used in China per historic assignment.
You can probably re-equip that NCAC unit with C-47s If you want the C-46As for longer range transport elsewhere. For example, I am setting up a para drop on Truk and have been building airfields around Truk for the transport aircraft. The range for most of them will be 13-15 hexes, so I need the longer ranged aircraft and have swapped equipment using the pools to get the C-46As and Liberator transports in the Truk area. Satawal and Ponape will operate C-47s because they are respectively 8 and 10 hexes from Truk.

If you check the CNAC unit, you will see it is attached to CAF HQ (R) which arrives on map in January 1942 at Chungking. CAF HQ (R) itself is a Chinese headquarters.
If you check the upgrades available for CNAC you will see it has access to both American and Chinese airplanes.

Para drop on Truk? I would expect it to be heavily defended. Has recon shown it is not?

After six months of bombing and bombarding, there is the remains of one unit left and no supply. I am only doing the big paradrop because I have never done one before. I could probably take it with an Aussie commando company dropped off by PBY if I want to get it over with. Base damage was all 99% until I withdrew the bombers and bombardment ships and the unit remnant on Truk began repairing one point a day of runway damage. Suits me fine!

Thanks Alfred and BBFanboy
I had not realised that the reinforcements worked that way. I had thought that having 10 C-46A/month labelled Chinese meant that only actual Chinese could use them. I will look at what else the Chinese and USAAF have available and look at the updates listed to see what else I have missed.

The other interesting pool early war is Dutch bomber groups being able to use some US branded B-25s
