Difference between Escort/Real Radius

What is the difference between the Escort radius and the real radius of a plane e.g. when does a plane use it's real radius?
And I'm also confused by the extended radius of a level bomber, why is it often less than this real radius?

real radius does not take into account burning fuel to climb to a given escort elevation.

With bombers, combat radius is with a full load of bombs, extended radius is with a reduced load (more or less) and real radius is no load.

You don't need to worry about this too much but it's there if you need it.

Okay thank you, I understand that, but what radius is used by a fighter squadron for example that is sent on a sweep mission? Sadly the rulebook doesn't offer much help in that regard.

It depends on what altitude the group climbs out to. The stat display give you 10K and 15K to give you some guidance.
